Award-winning comedy comes to Enfield to raise money for the homeless

Rotarians the world over are business and professional people who give up their time to support charitable causes.

Located in North London, the Southgate Rotary Club – part of Rotary International – remains popular with local British Turkish entrepreneurs. In recent years, the group has had three presidents of Turkish Cypriot origin: Ali Ibrahim, Tahsin Ibrahim (no relation) and current president Enver Kannur.

The President’s job is to spearhead the fundraising, and Enver Kannur is sticking with a tried and tested formula – comedy – to raise essential income for this year’s local charity of choice: Winter Night Shelter in Enfield.

Southgate Rotary Club’s Comedy Night is being staged at the group’s local pub, The Jolly Farmer. Headlining for the evening is award-winning broadcaster and comedian Mark Dolan, who is best known for hosting the Channel 4 comedy series Balls of Steel. The night will feature many other comedians – all for a good cause!

Winter Night Shelter is a project run by local churches and All People All Places in order to ensure that the homeless have a roof to sleep under and a hot meal during the cold winter period.

This will be the ninth year it has been in operation. All People All Places manages the referral process into the shelter and coordinates support and advocacy for the clients aiming to access services and find accommodation.
