Cyprus Garden: win dinner for two at new season opening gala

Cyprus Garden has been the number one Turkish entertainment spot in London for the past five years; the stylish venue offers a fixed meze menu and superb cabaret shows that has seen people travel not just across the capital, but the country to enjoy.

This 300-capacity party palace is located by the North Circular in Chingford, East London, and on Saturday 16 September, it re-opens its doors to the public for a new season, offering a fabulous new line-up.

Iconic Turkish singer Semra İleten headlines every week. The former lead singer of the Beyaz Kelebekler (White Butterflies) harks of nostalgia with her husky voice, delivering popular Arabesque, Turkish Classical and Fantasi songs. She is joined on the bill by Turkish Pop and Alaturka singer Devrim Baca.

The smooth-singing North Londoner is better known to many as the keyboard player in long-running Turkish wedding band Kıbrıs Dörtlüsü (Cyprus Quartet), which was formed 17 years ago by Devrim’s dad Erdoğan – the same band where Peri Aziz performed before she found fame with Babutsa.

Devrim himself has gone on to become a soloist, featuring in guest spots at Cyprus Meze Bar, Kösem, and Cyprus Corner, before getting his break at Cyprus Garden last September. Now a resident singer at the venue, his ability to work a crowd means his set is guaranteed to get you shimmy-shaking on the dance floor.

Warming up proceedings is Leyla Şimşek, whose contemporary meyhane style songs are the perfect accompaniment to a Turkish dinner. Providing the music for Leyla, Devrim and Semra is a new house band, comprising Hızır on violin and Güray on keyboard.

But that’s not all! Adding a big dash of colour every Saturday is dance trio The Flames (pictured), whose eclectic cabaret show combines Rio Carnival with the moves and music of Istanbul Oriental.

And just for the opening night only, flamboyant showman Kerem Ergen returns to Cyprus Garden. He’ll get the party started in earnest, as he jokes, sings and dances with guests.

All this and dinner for just £25 per person – a bargain for a top night out! It’s always best to make your reservation for Saturday nights in advance, because the venue always ends up being fully booked. To reserve your table, call 020 8527 9892 or 07741 34 10 31.

There is a way to beat the crowd for Cyprus Garden’s opening night. Owner Ediz Hastunc is giving one lucky T-VINE reader and a friend the chance to be his guests for the night. See below on how you can win.
