Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in London for talks

The Mayor of Istanbul will address British Turks in North London this evening, Thursday 14 November. Ekrem İmamoğlu arrived at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday, where he was greeted by members of the  Republican People’s Party’s (CHP) UK branch.

Tonight at 5.30pm, Mr İmamoğlu will take to the stage at the Dominion Centre on Wood Green High Road, in the heart of London’s Turkish community, to give a talk in Turkish. The event, organised by CHP UK, is free and open to all members of the public that wish to attend.

According to media reports in Turkey, during his three-day visit to London Mayor İmamoğlu will hold meetings and a roundtable session with representatives of the world’s leading investment banks and finance firms.

Among those set to meet with the Mayor of Istanbul are Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citi Group, HSBC, Barclays, Standard Life Aberdeen, and Bridgepoint Capital Group.

Earlier today, he met with the Turkish Ambassador Ümit Yalçın and Sir Simon Fraser, the Vice-President of Chatham House, also known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs.

Before leaving the capital late on Friday evening, Mr İmamoğlu will also meet with his London counterpart Sadiq Khan and be interviewed on Bloomberg TV.
