Nilüfer Yanya has been making waves with her music ever since first EP, Small Crimes/Keep on Calling, dropped in 2016.

The electric guitar-playing singer-songwriter reflects her broad musical influences in her songs. Expect traces of everything from indie bands like Portishead, Pixies, The Cure and Bloc Party, to soulful artists, like Nina Simone, Jeff Buckley and Bill Withers.

Just 21-years-old, last week Nilüfer dropped one of the hottest albums of the year: Painless. Some critics are already hailing it as “an early album of the year contender”  (Gigwise), while the Guardian made it their “album of the week”, and The Telegraph claims that Painless will “rubber-stamp Nilüfer Yanya as a generational star.”

The 21-year-old Londoner, whose father is Turkish and her mother of Bajan-Irish heritage, creates music that “incorporates the city’s urban edge with beautiful wandering guitar lines, downtrodden soulful and jazz flickered melodies, on top of minimalist and atmospheric beats.”

Catch her live at one of 37 concerts on her new Painless tour, which kicked off in Glasgow on Thursday. Nilüfer plays in venues across Britain, including the Electric Brixton on 16 March, as well as in Ireland, Europe and North America. She will also be performing at various local and international festivals this summer.
