Sample Turkish culture at the Liverpool Food & Drink Spring Festival

Later this month, Merseyside will be treated to the “rich and unrivalled” taste of Turkish cuisine. The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism is the main sponsor for the annual Liverpool Food, Drink and Lifestyle Spring Festival, which is taking place at Sefton Park on 23-24 April 2016.

The Turkey stand returns following last year’s successful partnership with event organisers for their September festival. A team of top chefs will again be cooking up Turkish culinary treats for festival goers to sample for free, as well as demonstrating how to cook Turkey’s most popular dishes.

Ali Selcuk Can, the Attaché of the UK Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, said, “We are aiming to introduce the deep-rooted, rich and unrivalled Turkish cuisine with the British public.”

The Turkey Home stand will also be holding demonstrations of Ebru Art. This centuries-old art form of marbling involves sprinkling and brushing colour pigments on a pan of oily water to create stunning colourful patterns. The paint is then transformed onto various materials including wood, pottery and paper.

Visitors to the Turkey Home stand can also win an all inclusive family holiday to Turkey!

Firmly established on the northwest of England’s social calendar, the annual two-day Liverpool Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival offers an abundance of eating, drinking and shopping for visitors, as well as live music, themed demonstrations, and an onsite secret pop-up restaurant in the woods.
