Turkey’s Yanki Erel and Finnish partner Otto Virtanen all set to play in final of Wimbledon Boys Doubles

Yanki Erel has made history by becoming the first Turkish tennis player to make it to a Wimbledon final. Erel, 17, and his Finnish doubles partner Otto Virtanen won their semi-final match against British pair J. Story and H. Wendelken on Saturday evening to book their place in the final of the Wimbledon Boys Doubles.

Erel and Virtanen emerged the eventual winners in a tough game on Court 18, winning 7-6, 7-6 in a match that took just under an hour and a half, with both sets going to a tie-break. They won the first tie-break 7-0, and the second 7-5.

The duo now face the tournament’s sixth-seeded junior boys pair, Nicolas Mejia, 18 from Colombia, and Ondrej Styler of the Czech Republic. The match is due to be played today on Court no. 12.
