Police investigating the fatal shooting of Erdem Mustafa in Enfield have named a man they urgently want to trace, as a separate man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

In an update issued on Monday 26 October, the Metropolitan Police appealed for help finding Abreham Woldegiworgis, 35, an Ethiopian national with links to Enfield, Haringey and Brixton.

Members of the public are urged not to approach him and to contact police immediately if they see him.

Officers believe Woldegiworgis is the person pictured in CCTV released last week, but say he has since significantly changed his appearance.

A 23-year-old man arrested on Monday remained in custody at the time of the update.

Erdem, 35, was fatally shot at a pub on Hertford Road on Monday 19 October. Police attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance at around 9.30pm. Despite treatment for gunshot wounds, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Specialist officers are supporting his family.

Detectives believe the shooting was a targeted attack. Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: “We remain committed to securing justice for Erdem as our thoughts remain with his loved ones at this unimaginably hard time.”

He appealed for help tracing Woldegiworgis and for any CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage relevant to the shooting.
