The Turkish Cypriot Community Association (TCCA) is looking for a new catering company to take over its restaurant space located within the TCCA building on Green Lanes, Harringay, in the heart of North London’s Turkish Cypriot community. Currently called Cyprus House, the well-established eatery seats fifty people and specialises in traditional Turkish Cypriot cuisine.
The TCCA building is open to all members of the local community, with facilities regularly used by local councillors for their monthly surgeries, along with keep fit instructors offering everything from dance classes to yoga lessons. The venue is also an important community hub for Turkish Cypriots, hosting craft fairs by heritage groups and cultural seminars including the recent London launch of bi-communal Cypriot book Theatre Breaks Down Borders, along with regular functions by the Cyprus Islamic Association including its mevlits and iftar dinners.
Details about TCCA’s restaurant tender were posted on its social media accounts earlier today, with interested parties invited to contact association head Erim Metto for more details. According to the post, the opportunity has arisen due to the current operators of Cyprus House “moving onto pastures new”. The full text of the tender invitation is as follows:
“We are now looking to appoint a new catering operator for a well establish culturally sensitive café/restaurant (that can serve 50 covers), the space is well known, it occupies a five-star hygiene rating and was recently quoted as being one the “10 Great Places to Eat on Green Lanes” by London Eater. The current occupants are moving onto pastures new, and TCCA is seeking to ensure service to the community continues uninterrupted.
“We hope the tender process will move forward relatively fast. Initial expression of interest need to be forwarded to us by the 16th July 2018, we would ask any potential suiters to be aware that we are seeking a £5000 deposit with payment terms for rental being six weeks in advance (fee being considered at around the £350-£400pw mark). We are keen that the restaurant remains open six days a week and food served is traditional Turkish Cypriot cuisine.
