Turkish singer-songwriter Mehmet Erdem is heading to London this autumn for an intimate headline concert at The Underworld in Camden.
Known for his unmistakably deep, slightly husky vocals and his ability to move effortlessly between Turkish pop, Anatolian folk and acoustic rock, Erdem will take to the stage at the legendary Camden venue on Sunday, 25 October 2026.
The musician has built up an impressive catalogue since launching his solo career with the award-winning Herkes Aynı Hayatta in 2012. Its title track and Hakim Bey remain among his best-known songs, alongside Acıyı Sevmek Olur mu, Gibi Gibi, Olur Ya, Hepsi Benim Yüzümden and Sensiz Ben Olamam.
Erdem’s musical roots, however, stretch back considerably further. A multi-instrumentalist who started playing the mandolin as a child before learning instruments including the bağlama, ud and cümbüş, he spent part of his early professional career with multicultural folk collective Kardeş Türküler.
He later established himself as a composer of music for Turkish films and television series, including Polis, Avrupa Avrupa and cult comedy Leyla ile Mecnun.
T-VINE readers may also remember Erdem appearing in London alongside Kardeş Türküler when the group celebrated its 25th anniversary with a concert at KOKO in Camden in 2019.
Erdem’s appeal lies as much in his interpretations of other writers’ songs as his own material. Over the years, the Manisa-born musician has put his distinctive stamp on classics associated with artists such as Barış Manço, Sezen Aksu, Ahmet Kaya and Erkin Koray.
That tradition has continued in 2026. In April he released a new interpretation of Barış Manço’s Ben Bilirim, followed in May by Hey Yıllar, his contribution to the Talu Şarkıları project celebrating songs associated with Çiğdem and Zeynep Talu.
London fans can therefore expect a concert spanning Erdem’s biggest solo hits, much-loved reinterpretations and more recent material, all delivered in the atmospheric surroundings of one of Camden’s best-known live music venues.
