On Friday, Gazel is in North London to play new music from her upcoming album ‘Gazel’s Book of Souls’. The young singer-songwriter is fast carving out a name for herself with her blend of dreamy electronic folk-pop fused with ancient and philosophical influences. Gazel’s debut EP Bone Key garnered nominations at the 15th Independent Music Awards for Best Pop EP and Best Electronic Song. Helping to hone her distinctive sound are Shuta Shinoda (Hot Chip, Ghostpoet) and Haydn Bendall (Kate Bush, Massive Attack). Since 2017, Gazel has headlined shows at the Waiting Room, The Lexington and Borderline, as well as playing supports at the Shepherd's Bush Empire and a sold-out Hammersmith Apollo. She continues her musical journey with a gig at cool basement bar and club Birthdays in Stoke Newington. Gazel’s Book of Souls is due for release in 2018. The album is supported by a series of character art developed by close collaborator Acid Lake, as shown in a still illustration in her video below.
