Acclaimed Turkish Cypriot pianist-composer Arman Ratip is coming back to the capital for a live performance at the end of this month.  On a double-bill with Gypsy Dynamite, the concert will take place at eclectic live music venue Luna Lounge in Leytonstone. Considered one of the leading names in Turkish Jazz and Avant-Garde improvisational music, Cyprus-born Ratip has been performing for over fifty years. A musical prodigy, he was signed by EMI and released two albums for them. Next Saturday, he will be performing a selection of what what he describes are his “space music compositions”. With its extra-terrestrial theme, piano virtuoso Ratip will take listeners on an unusual aural journey. Ratip’s New Age Jazz set will be followed at 7pm by Gypsy Dynamite, who play a wide repertoire of Jazz, Gypsy Jazz, Spanish and Italian music all rearranged in a fresh, unique and energetic style. Both performances are free of charge.
