Masters of Istanbul psychedelia BaBa ZuLa are back in London this month

Currently on their Do NOT Obey XX world tour, sonic rebels BaBa ZuLa return to the capital for an exclusive gig at the award-winning venue Under the Bridge, in southwest London on Thursday 27th April.

Renowned for their ritual-like performances, expect a tantalizing audio-visual feast of Anatolian electro dub beats, belly dancers, elaborate costumes, spoken word, and performance art that will have the audience throwing shapes like never before.

The self-proclaimed masters of 21st century Turkish psychedelic music have been releasing music since their formation in 1996. Their latest release XX, out on Glitterbeat Records, is a twin compilation album celebrating their 20-year history. The first part features remixes, re-recordings and live renditions of songs, none of which have been released before. The second contains dubs created by artists the band has collaborated with, including Mad Professor. Dr. Das of Asian Dub Foundation, and Dirtmusic.

Over the years, the band has worked with a host of incredible artists from around the world, including Einsturzende Neubauten, Jaki Liebezeit from Can, Sly and Robbie, Brenna MacCrimmon, Fred Frith and more. These collaborations have helped Baba ZuLa to hone their unique sound, which travels freely between the Orient and the West.

Baba ZuLa’s London concert is being promoted by AGMP. Their line-up for the night will feature band co-founders Levent Akman, and Osman Murat Ertel, alongside Özgür Çakırlar, Periklis Tsoukalas, and Melike Şahin. Also on the bill for London are Gypsydelica and DJ Scratchy Sounds.BabaZula -Do Not Obey_world tour
