A committed football fan went to extraordinary lengths to see his local team play at the weekend. The unnamed Denizlispor supporter was seen watching the Turkish League 1 match between his club and Gaziantepspor up in a crane. According to Turkish daily Birgün, the supporter had received a one-year ban from the club for previous offences. To circumvent the order preventing him from entering the grounds, the diehard fan hired a crane and was pictured watching the match from its cab. The man draped a large green and black flag – the colours of the home side – over one side of the cab, while waving a smaller flag as he cheered the players on. Home fans who realised he was up in the crane applauded him back. However, the man’s efforts to watch his beloved Denizlispor from above turned sour as police intervened and forced him to come down before the end of the game. The match ended with Denizlispor beating Gaziantepspor 5.0.
