The works of 46 artists on show at the 6th Turkish Community Art Exhibition in London

The annual Turkish Community Art Exhibition is back for its sixth year and is now open for viewing at the Yunus Emre Institute in London.

The multi-disciplinary exhibition, which features a variety of art works including paintings, drawings, photography and sculptures, was opened for public on 5 March and runs for three weeks.

Running since 2019, this year’s Turkish Community Art Exhibition 113 applications from artists of all abilities, which the jury whittled down to a selection of 66 unique artworks by 46 artists.

The exhibition organisers say the annual showcase plays “an important role in making art accessible to a wider audience and platforming artists, while stoking community interaction, dialogue, and unity.”

This year’s jury of seven included Turkiye’s Consul General in London Mr. Bekir Utku Atahan, Dr Mehmet Karakuş, the Director of Yunus Emre Institute London, and five artists: Ali Haydar Yeşilyurt, Cevdet Akman, Nagihan Seymour, Nilay İşlek, and Rümeysa Memiş. They evaluated the submitted artworks based on their originality, creativity, technique, and expression.

The exhibition was opened with a private viewing and reception, where the featured artists and relatives rubbed shoulders with notable guests including local politicians and diplomats.

The artists for the 6th Turkish Community Art Exhibition include: Alev Jemal, Alisher Ilkhamov, Ali Ergin, Arzu Taylan Ersöz, Ayşe Özlem Yüksel, Ayşe McGowan, Ayşegül Coles, Banu Rezzan Phillips, Binal Webb, Burcu Özaltın, Burçak Kafadar, Can Efe Özcan, Cemali Çiftçi, Delfin Uslu, Demet Tokbay, Eda Özlem Sipahioğlu Diler, Ramazan Ekrem Öztürkmen, Eylül Özmen Yüksel, Fatma Karaer, Fatma-Ivona Koçhan, Feten Ben Dhieb, Filiz Kumru, Sadiye Serin, Gökçen Tanyer, Gültekin Uzuner, Gün Orgun, Abdullah Yusuf, Hanife Yusuf Kiatip, Kadir Uğur Varlı, Kübra Topal, Mehmet Özmen, Megan Zeynep Dilnutt, Meltem Firuzan Yılmaz, Meral Komanova, Metin Salih, Mine Bayar, Müge Koçak, Muhsin Adalı, Nilgün Baklacı, Nurgül Sümer, Refie Nuredin Rufi, Rukiye Akın, Şerife Orak, Serpil Eryalçın, Sevim Hacıöztürk Çakır, Şöhret Başaran Howells, and Zehra Özhan.
