The eagerly awaited Raşit Bağzıbağlı x Modanisa spring-summer collection went on sale on Monday 26th March. Turkey’s leading designer and Modanisa.com – the world’s biggest modest fashion e-retailer – celebrated their collaboration with a launch party in Istanbul.
Jetting in especially for the occasion was trailblazing model Halima Aden, who opened the catwalk for Raşit Bağzıbağlı x Modanisa’s spectacular show at Dubai Modest Fashion Week last December. It was the Somali-American star’s first visit to Turkey and for several days she dominated the media agenda.
Crews from national TV channels and journalists from Turkey’s biggest daily newspapers turned out in force at the exclusive showcase inside the Art Centre in Emaar Square Mall, on the Asian side of Istanbul. They jostled for place with two hundred guests in front of the sand-covered podium to capture a glimpse of Aden.
The hijabi supermodel struck a pose in a stunning floor-length red dress and turban, one of sixteen eye-catching creations on show from the new Raşit Bağzıbağlı x Modanisa Desert Dream range. Aden and the other models stood statuesque-like on sculpted sand dunes, the neutral colour offering the ideal background for Bağzıbağlı’s striking spring-summer palette of red, green, white, powder, purple, blue and black.
Bağzıbağlı’s debut modest fashion collection centred on the traditional abaya. Using mainly chiffon and crêpe materials, the dresses were rich in detail: layered frills, lace trims, sequins, and embroidery.
The 28-piece capsule collection was well received by guests at the launch, which took place on the first day of Istanbul Fashion Week. Among those in the audience were hijab-wearing artist Zeynep Çilek, designer Rabia Yalçın, and top bloggers Samia El Hassani (Belgium), Ebru Erol (Germany), Soha MT (UAE), and Rozaa Jo (Jordan), and Sena Sever and Zeruj (both Turkey).
Prices for pieces from the Raşit Bağzıbağlı x Modanisa Desert Dream collection start at 99TL ($25), rising to 599TL ($150). They are available exclusively from Modanisa.com and for the next month, from Modanisa’s pop-up store at Emaar Square Mall.
