Saban “Shaban” Kazim makes it to the final of the ‘Not So New Comedian of the Year 2023’

A South Londoner of Turkish Cypriot origin has made it into the final round of this year’s Not So New Comedian of the Year contest.

Saban Kazim was one of around 100 not-so-new acts who think they are still very funny and worthy of this year’s title.

The standard for this year’s contest has been very high, with plenty of world-weary cynicism from comics who’ve been around the block and back again with their peculiar take on life matters.

After cruising through the preliminary round, Saban faced a tough semi-final at the Museum of Comedy in Bloomsbury that was timed to coincide with the King’s Coronation Concert. He made the final cut of 12 and is back at Museum of Comedy on Friday evening, 19 May.

Unlike the previous rounds, there is no audience vote on Friday, with Saban and his fellow finalists having to impress three industry judges to win the title.

Go along and support, and enjoy some new jokes too!
