Digital content creator and dancer Berk Çiçekgil is used to sharing elements of his life on social media, but when he uploaded a clip of himself and friends performing at his wedding last month, he quickly became a global internet sensation.

Istanbul-born Çiçekgil, 22, married fellow professional dancer Pelin Yar in Turkiye. The couple, who have been together for over four years, regularly share TikToks of themselves dancing, and their wedding day was no exception.

Dressed in a tuxedo suit, the groom and six of his friends performed an urban dance routine to an R&B and rap medley where Çiçekgil takes a starring role. Guests cheered and clapped as the groom and his fellow dancers brilliantly executed their choregraphed moves that included backflips, locking and breaking.

Within days of the clip going live on 25 June, it had attracted millions of views from around the world, and hundreds of thousands of likes, comments and shares.

Not to be outdone, the bride and her female friends perform their own urban dance, which Yar has shared on her TikTok account, attracting even more views and likes than her husband’s clip.

The newlyweds, who have over 5 million TikTok followers between them, have continued to share clips from their big day, including those showing them joining guests dancing to more traditional Turkish music.
