Turkish homeware brand Karaca to present award-winning Hussein Chalayan collaboration at Design London

One of Turkiye’s most exciting contemporary brands, Karaca, will be appearing at the upcoming four-day Design London exhibition in Greenwich, alongside other cutting edge interior brands from around the world.

The homeware brand recently collaborated with globally renowned British Turkish Cypriot designer Hussein Chalayan MBE, who has created an eye-catching, minimalist style, collection of dinner and breakfast sets that will be on show at Design London.

Karaca X Chalayan comprises of two limited edition six-piece sets for dinner and breakfast, crafted from fine pearl and porcelain. Their design reflects Chalayan’s artistic vision that is both playful and practical, as each piece stacks together perfectly to form shape-altering pyramids and interlocking concentric circles. It is ideal for hosts seeking to create a chic, functional, and contemporary aesthetic at the dinner table.

Remarking on the clever and unique tableware, Hussein Chalayan said: “Our idea with this collection was to foster a playful and interactive relationship between the user and the form.

“The Digital Pearl set (shown immediately below) can be used vertically where the plates and cups overlap to form a pyramid shape (pictured top). Setting the pyramid on your table adds an architectural, graphic dimension to your dining experience.

“Meanwhile, the Poly Breakfast set is an interweaved collection. The products can be combined and displayed in a multitude of ways, each time creating different shapes and forms depending on the preference of the individual.”

The stunning designs have caught the eye of discerning judges too, with the Karaca X Chalayan collection being awarded Best Tableware at the Wallpaper* Design Awards 2022.

It is the perfect precursor to Karaca opening its first branch in Britain, with its Islington store set to open its doors to the public in November.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Hussein Chalayan in executing his vision for this elegant tableware collection for Karaca,” said Fatih Karaca, the CEO of the 49-year old brand.

“The collection embodies Chalayan’s minimalist approach to design, augmented by his feel for fashion, art, and architecture. As a world first for using fine pearl in dinnerware, we look forward to showcasing the collection at the upcoming Design London”, he continued.
