This year’s London Turkish Film Festival (LTFF) is being screened entirely online, allowing lots more people to watch their fabulous selection of feature films, documentaries and shorts at a time and place convenient to them. You can see the full programme and buy tickets to screenings from here.
The film festival runs until 6 December 2017, and LTFF has teamed up with media partner T‑VINE Magazine to give away fifteen vouchers – one for each ‘film of the day’.
Each day, we will run a fresh competition based on a new film being screened at LTFF 2017. The winner can watch their chosen film for free online any time during the festival.
Day 2 of our completion sees us give away vouchers to see two striking films: the award-winning Sarmaşık / Ivy and Gezinin Ruhu / The Spirit of Gezi, which captures the zeitgeist of a popular uprising in Turkey in 2013.
Sarmaşık / Ivy premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The story centres on events after the owner of a large freight ship goes bankrupt, leaving his crew stranded off the coast of Egypt. As weeks go by, they struggle with boredom, deprivation and internal conflicts that brings out unusual experiences among this diverse crew: the no-nonsense captain Beybaba, a Kurdish giant, and a dope-smoking sailor with his eye on the meds cabinet for his next hit.
For those keen for an interactive experience, the film is being streamed live by LTFF on Saturday night, 25 Nov, and is followed by a Q&A with director Tolga Karaçelik.
The second prize is a voucher to see Gezinin Ruhu / The Spirit of Gezi, a documentary that charts the social dynamism during the Gezi Park uprising in June 2013. Piecing the events of the explosive month, it asks those who took part how the events changed them. The hour-long documentary will be streamed live on Sunday evening, with director Özgür Çataltepe taking part in a Q&A after – the winner of this film can watch live too or see the film at their leisure next week.
To win vouchers to watch either film, just answer the question below correctly and let us know which film you want us to watch. All correct entries will be entered into our free prize draw giving you a chance to win a voucher.
Fifteen vouchers, each one to see one of fifteen different films and documentaries that feature in this year’s London Turkish Film Festival.
For your chance to win, tell us at which film festival did Sarmaşık / Ivy premiere?
