Acclaimed electro rock band Lalalar will be playing at Camden’s award-winning music venue Jazz Café in what is sure to be a memorable appearance.
One of the most exciting new bands to emerge from Istanbul, the three-piece outfit serve up a unique blend of punk rock, psychedelic funk and electronica bound together with Anatolian beats.
The genre-busting group’s high energy performances have made them a firm favourite across Europe, having rocked Dutch music festival Le Guess Who and Les Rencontres Trans Musicales in France, while American punk rock pioneer Iggy Pop describes Lalalar as “Turkey’s most innovative alternative artists”.

The band will arrive in London this weekend having just released a follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album Bi Cinnete Bakar [‘Look At Da Madness’], En Kötü Iyi Olur [The Worst Becomes Best] out on Bongo Joe Records.

Competition…how to win
For your chance to win a pair of tickets, simply answer the following question correctly.
Lalalar’s name is partly inspired by the Ottoman Turkish word Lala, but what does it mean? Is it:
A) Wise man & tutor of future Sultans
B) Troubadour & royal court musician
C) Doctor & Sultan’s physician
Pick the correct answer from one of the three options above and enter the competition as detailed below.
The names of all entrants with the correct answer, which is received by the deadline, will be put into a hat and the first one out will receive a pair of tickets.
The competition is free to enter and runs for 12 hours, until just before midnight on Thursday 7 September 2023.
Prize
T-VINE Magazine is giving away one pair of tickets to the Lalalar concert at the Jazz Café on Saturday 9 September 2023.
How to enter
There are two ways to enter into our free prize draw:
Either like T-VINE Magazine’s Facebook page and leave your answer under the Lalalar competition post pinned at the top of the page;
OR
Send us an email to competitions @ t-vine.com marking the subject line Lalalar Competition. If you are emailing your entry, do include your full name and daytime contact number too.
Those responding by Facebook are not required to give their full details on the public post. If you are the winner, you will be sent a private message from T-VINE informing you that you have won and be asked for your details as part of your prize confirmation.
Competition deadline
The deadline for your competition entry is 11.59pm (UK time) Thursday 07 September 2023. We will make the draw on Friday morning and announce the winner on the same day.
Competition rules
Only one competition entry per person.
You must be eighteen or over and reside in the United Kingdom to enter.
There is one prize on offer, comprising a pair of tickets to see Lalalar at the Jazz Café on Saturday 09 September 2023.

The prize does not include travel or any other expenses for the winner and their guest.
The concert tickets are issued subject to the promoter Columbo Group.
The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and non-negotiable.
There is no cash alternative.
The winner will be selected randomly by T-VINE Magazine, who must claim their prize within one hour of being contacted. Failure to do so would render them disqualified and a new winner picked.
The judge’s decision is final.
