The Psychedelic World of Barış Manço is now firmly established in the London cultural calendar, allowing fans of the iconic rock star to come together and enjoy his biggest hits in a spectacular tribute night performed by singer Djanan Turan, The Flying Karpet band, and a host of special guests.

Barış Manço is one of the godfathers of Anatolian rock, recording some of Turkiye’s most memorable songs during his forty year career. In the 1970s especially, he and the musicians he collaborated with became famed for combining Turkish folk with psychedelic and progressive rock from the West.

Tracks such as Dağlar Dağlar, Gülpembe, Gamzedeyim Deva Bulmam, Hal Hal, Ben Bilirim Ben Bilirim, and Sarı Çizmeli Mehmet Ağa have all become classics that new generations of Turks continue to sing and perform.

Continuing that tradition are an eclectic group of London-based Turkish musicians and artists: chanteuse Djanan Turan, who is behind the Barış Manço tribute night concept, is renowned for straddling earthy Turkish folk with electronica and edgy global beats, while drummer Tansay Omar, Jomy Jai (synths) and Berdin Pamukcu (guitar) all feature in the all-star Flying Karpet band.

Joining them for The Psychedelic World of Barış Manço will be DJ Burak Çetindağ, who will be spinning his trademark eclectic mix of 60s, 70s, and early 80s Anatolian psychedelic rock, funk and jazz gems in between the live music.

Tickets for the 2024 event, which again takes place at London’s Jazz Café, are now on sale and, given the gig is always a sell-out at this 500-capacity venue, early purchase is highly recommended.

Downstairs is standing only or there are seated tickets with dinner in the Jazz Café restaurant on the balcony overlooking the stage.
