Turkish tourism firms pick up 6 trophies at the World Travel Awards Europe 2022

Turkish Airlines, the Çırağan Palace Kempinski, and Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus are among the top winners from Turkiye at the Europe Winners of the 29th World Travel Awards™. Many others picked up awards for the country-specific categories.

The leading lights in the travel industry from some 40 countries attended the glitzy gala ceremony at the Hilton Mallorca Galatzo, Spain, on 1 October to hear whether they had won an award. The regional Europe section had awards for more than 140 categories up for grabs, with dozens of others recognised for their national success.

Portugal’s The Algarve picked up the prestigious prize of ‘Europe’s Leading Beach Destination’, while Porto received the coveted title of ‘Europe’s Leading City Destination’.

Hotels and travel brands from Turkiye won in six categories. Turkish Airlines was named the continent’s top airline, winning the Europe’s Leading Airline gong for the third time.

Conrad Istanbul Bosphorus was named Europe’s Leading City Hotel for the fifth year running, and the sixth time in the past decade.

Antalya’s Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa continues to dominate the Europe’s Leading Fully Integrated Resort category, winning the award ten years on the trot.

Similarly, the internationally famed luxurious Çırağan Palace Kempinski in Istanbul has won Europe’s Leading Hotel for the 10th consecutive year.

The Land Of Legends Kingdom Hotel in Antalya was again named Europe’s Leading Theme Park Hotel, an award it has won every year since the category was first introduced in 2016.

About the World Travel Awards

The full list of winners from Europe, including those who won in the Turkiye country awards, can be found on the World Travel Awards website.

First established in 1993, the awards aim to “acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.” The awards operate at a country, regional and global level.

Each year, the winner and runners up from each category, as well as self-nominations and commendations are put forward for consideration. A short list is then drawn up for each category, voted on by travel executives and consumers over the course of a year.
