US Presidential hopeful Cenk Uygur tells talk show host Piers Morgan that he would “end all funding to Israel”

Turkish American Cenk Uygur, who is currently seeking the Democratic Party nomination for the 2024 US Presidential Elections, has said he would bar all American funds to Israel if he was elected.

Uygur made the comments while appearing as a guest on British talk show host Piers Morgan’s Talk TV programme on Monday night, which was discussing the ongoing Gaza-Israel War.

Morgan started by asking the current affairs pundit turned politician what he made of the pictures showing his name had been written on a bomb that will be launched against Gaza by the Israeli Defence Force.

Uygur responded by saying the images were “disheartening” and “sick,” before adding, “They’re going to drop those bombs on Palestinian civilians. They’re probably going to murder babies and grandmothers with those bombs.”

The Young Turks host went on to say, “That’s why if I’m president I won’t send Israel a single dollar. Not only the 14 billion dollars they are considering now, but I would end all funding to Israel as they have massacred civilian after civilian. 19,000 dead, 9,000 children butchered.

“I do not want a single American tax dollar going to help Israel commit war crimes and if they think they are going to intimidate me by putting my name on their bombs, they got another thought coming to them.”

Since appearing on the show, Uygur has posted on X (formerly Twitter) that, “ I’m only presidential candidate on either side who would cut off all funding to Israel until it ends this war, ends the occupation and signs a peace deal guaranteeing a Palestinian state.”
