Art by you! British Turkish community invited to submit artworks for a new London exhibition

Whether you are an amateur artist or a professional, if you are of Turkish heritage and living in Britain, the Yunus Emre Institute London wants to hear from you!

The Institute – the Turkish equivalent of the British Council – will be hosting a month-long exhibition at their central London premises in the New Year to showcase the rich talents of Britain’s half-a-million strong Turkish community. All forms of original artwork will be considered for the exhibition including, but not limited to drawings, paintings, small installations and sculptures, film, poetry and photography.

A spokesperson for the Institute told T-VINE: “The aim of the exhibition is to create an opportunity to bring together both professional and amateur Turkish artists, and to show solidarity and unity within the Turkish community living in the United Kingdom.”

The exhibition will run between 23 January and 22 February 2019.

Artists who would like their artwork considered for display should submit a form to the Yunus Emre Institute London to register their interest and details about their proposed artwork. The form should be received no later than Friday 14 December.

A jury will assess the applications and determine which artworks will be exhibited. Its verdict and details of those artists whose work will be in the exhibition will be announced on 4 January 2019.
