“One of Britain’s best young talents”, singer Nilüfer Yanya headlines the Jazz Café

Solo artist Nilüfer Yanya is the headline act for this weekend’s Camden showcase promoted by London’s most exciting independent label, Blue Flowers.

Just 22-years-old, Nilüfer has forged her own musical path by performing in open mic nights across the capital. Her breakthrough single Baby Luv, released earlier this year, was lauded by music critics on both sides of the Atlantic. Her earlier releases, including first record Small Crimes (2016) and more recently Golden Cage (2017), the latter from her three-track EP Plant Feed, had alerted London’s music heads about this promising new talent, and Nilüfer continues to shine with her unique soulful-indie style.

Of Turkish (father), Irish and Bajan heritage, the West London singer grew up with her artist parents’ diverse musical tastes. On the playlist at home were the likes of Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse and the Pixies, their influences palpable in Nilüfer’s own music.

The impressive guitar-strumming singer-songwriter is tipped for big things in 2018. She features on BBC Radio 6 Music’s Sound of 2018, while NME describes her as “one of Britain’s best young talents”. Stateside, Pitchfork magazine raved about Nilüfer in a review of her single Baby Luv: “For a young artist, Yanya already has an impressive range, and her ability to render the highs and lows of life in her songs is no small feat.”

After a sell-out UK tour, Nilüfer returns to the capital to perform at the Jazz Café this Saturday. A few tickets remain for this intimate gig that includes label mate Westerman and special guest Puma Blue.
