Can you help the Cyprus Islamic Association and TCCA with their ‘Homeless Christmas Campaign’?

Following their successful campaign last year, the Turkish Cypriot Community Association (TCCA) and the Cyprus Islamic Association (CIA) are teaming up again to provide vital support to London’s homeless over Christmas.

Over a two-day period last December, the TCCA and CIA Christmas Appeal resulted in a fantastic response from the community. Over 140 rough sleepers were fed and forty of these individuals were also provided with essential packs.

This year’s campaign will again rely on the community’s generosity and there are lots of ways to get involved. Register your interest to donate clothes, toiletries and other vital items on the ‘essentials’ list, or volunteer to collect donated items from collection points across London and bring them to the TCCA in Harringay, North London.

Volunteers will also be needed to sort through donations and help bag items up. For those with culinary skills, help with be needed in the kitchen cooking hot food, which will be distributed on the nights when donor bags are handed out to the homeless.

The immediate priority, however, is confirming drop-off points for donations. If you are a local business that can help, please contact one of the two associations so you can be listed as part of the campaign. Businesses can also support the campaign by donating bulk items, such as toiletries and socks.

To help, please contact TCCA Director Erim Metto during office hours on 0208 826 1080, or call Cyprus Islamic Association head Husayn Hashim El Bakayi on 0793 0433 640.
