If you live in the Enfield area and want your kids to have fun and keep fit at the same time, Enfield Town Football Club’s weekly Football School is ideal!
The Football School takes place every Saturday morning, and is open to primary school children aged four and eleven years old, both boys and girls. Enrolment starts this Saturday 8 September and the first term runs for 15 weeks.
Children are split into one of five year-groups depending on their age and get to play for one hour every Saturday. The session for the youngest members (Year 1s) runs from 9am to 10am. Years 2 and 3 play from 10am to 11am, with the final session, between 11am and midday, for Years 4 and 5.
Under trained supervision from Enfield’s youth team coaches, the children spend the first part of the hour-long session practicing their ball skills (20-30 minutes), before playing a game of football for the last 30 minutes.
The activities all take place outdoor on state of the art 3G playing surfaces at the club, which is situated off Donkey Lane. Children can attend wearing sportswear of their choice and trainers suitable for astro turf (artificial grass), or football boots with plastic studs (metal studs are not allowed).
Ramadan Ismail, one of the directors at Enfield Town FC, is particularly keen to see more children from the local Turkish community attend:
“Although Enfield borough has a large Turkish community, very few are involved with the club. It was great to see lots of Turkish families come to Enfield Town to watch North Cyprus play in the CONIFA World Cup. We would love to see them back for the new season.
“Our football school is not just great fun for the children, but also for the parents, who get to make new friends in the local community. Everyone is welcome.”
Fees for Enfield Town FC Football School is just £6 per week ‘pay as you go’ or £75 for the full 15-week term. Those who pre-pay for the whole term also an Enfield Town Season ticket to watch the club’s home games.
