Suat Sancar’s musical tribute to Kemal Atatürk with concerts in Birmingham, London and Manchester

One of the UK’s most highly regarded Turkish classical music artists, Suat Sancar, is to present a series of concerts as a musical tribute to Kemal Atatürk, the founder of Republic of Turkiye, as part of Turkish celebrations worldwide during the country’s centenary year.

Sancar will be leading members of three distinctive Turkish classical music choirs based in London, Birmingham and Manchester as they perform Turkish classical and folk songs in their respective cities during April and May.

Hosted by Günay Measy, each of the three concerts will comprise of two parts: the first will be a rendition of Atatürk’s favourite songs, followed by a second half performance featuring singer and choirmaster Suat Sancar.

The evening’s repertoire will also feature soloists and duets. They include:

Singer Fahri Nur will also make a special appearance in London, where he will perform a selection of his own compositions.

The three concerts will conclude with a duet performance of a traditional Turkish folk song from Selanik (Thessaloniki), Bir Fırtına Tuttu Bizi., featuring Suat Sancar and his musical prodigy, Beste Cikcık, a music graduate from Brunel University, who will also be playing the piano during the concert.
